Derek brings a wealth of experience and knowledge after two decades of instruction across the globe. A passionate instructor focused on junior development from beginner to professional, experienced club fitter, and accomplished player at the professional level. 

Growing up and learning the game in New Zealand, he quickly rose to becoming one of the best juniors in his area, prompting him to turn professional at the age of 17. After years of playing and coaching in Auckland, he moved to Edinburgh, Scotland and taught for two years before returning to become the Head Professional at The Grange Golf Club in Auckland. 

In 2010 Derek became the Head Professional at the prestigious Jagorawi Golf and Country Club in Jakarta, Indonesia and the Head Coach of the Indonesian Men’s and Women’s National Golf Team. There he coached some of the nations best youth golfers weekly, traveled to events with them, and developed several students who are still competing on the professional tours globally. 

Building upon his experiences, Derek aims to continue growth of Summit’s junior golf development programs, provide world class instruction to our students, and add additional insights as a club fitter.
